- 1990's Tropical Storm Hortense - formed west of Africa and headed west, but interaction with Hurricane Gustav dissipated it.
- 1996's Hurricane Hortense - passed over Guadeloupe and Puerto Rico, and grazed the eastern Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands. 21 were killed and $127 million in damage done to Puerto Rico, and extensive but isolated damage in the Dominican Republic.
