The men's tournament in ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang, Korea between 10 and 25 February 2018. Twelve countries will qualify for the tournament; eight of them did so automatically by virtue of their ranking by the International Ice Hockey Federation, one, South Korea, automatically qualified as hosts, while the three others will take part in a qualification tournament.[1]

On 3 April 2017, the NHL announced that it would not participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics.[2] NHL players have participated in every Winter Olympics since 1998.

Qualification

Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, United States, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Slovakia qualified as the top eight teams in the IIHF World Ranking in 2015.

South Korea qualified as host team.

The remaining three teams qualified from qualification tournaments.
