Ivan Lapčević (Иван Лапчевић, born 26 March 1976 in Kruševac, Serbia) is a former Serbian handball player, playing as left back for F.C Barcelona, Gummersbach, MKB Veszprem.[1] He now works as a sports manager. In 2010, he joined Spanish team Puerto Sagunto.[2] In 2011, he joined Italian div. 2 team Romagna.[3]
Club career
He began his handball career in his home town for RK Župa Aleksandrovac. Then, one of the best handball coaches Zoran “Tuta” Živković take him in one of the best handball clubs in ex Yugoslavia - RK Železničar 1949 and he was 2 times Yugoslavian National Cup Winner and 1 time Yugoslavian Champion with them. He played there till 2001 and RK Železničar 1949 was his last Serbian Team.
In season 2001/2002 he start his international career, and signed for one of the best teams in the world - FC Barcelona. There he was Spanish Champion - in ASOBAL Liga, Spanish ASOBAL Cup Winner, and Finalist of European EHF Cup.
After only one season, he went in The Best Handball League in the world - Germany Handball-Bundesliga and sign for one of the best handball teams VfL Gummersbach. He played there 3 years, and was one of the main players in the team. In 2004 he was the best Left Back in Germany Handball-Bundesliga. In his last season (2004/2005) in VfL Gummersbach he played in Semi Final (1/2 Final) of EHF Cup
After 3 years, he left Germany and come in the best team in Hungary and one of the best in the World - MKB Veszprém KC where he had the best period in career and stay 5 years (2005 - 2010). He was 5 times Hungarian Champion and 4 times Hungarian National Cup Winner. In 2008 WON EHF Cup Winners' Cup, in 2006 played in Semi Final (1/2 Final) of EHF Champions League. Also they played 3 times in Quarter Final (1/4 Final) of EHF Champions League.
In season 2010/2011, after 5 great and successful years he left Veszprém, and sign for Spanish team BM Puerto Sagunto from Liga ASOBAL.
2011/2012 was the last season of his active handball career as a player and he played and helped for Italian club Romagna Handball.
National Team
He has over 200 caps for Serbia. He won 2 silver medals from World Championships 1999 Egypt and 2001 France
Also he was on Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, and they finished on 4th place.
