James Richard "J. R." Malone (October 15, 1858 – November 11, 1935) was a professional baseball umpire.
Malone umpired three American Association games in 1888, as the home plate umpire. He died in Baltimore and is buried in Lot 697, Section TT in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore. He was the father of Major Leaguer Lew Malone.
