Thompson was born in Stoke-on-Trent.[1] She was noticed as a potential contestant for a future cycle of Britain's Next Top Model whilst she was at a Live catwalk show for cycle 6 on 2010. After putting her name down for the open catwalk, she began to receive attention from producers. Ultimately she was asked to fill out an application, and made it to the semi-finals.[1] Previous to her joining the competition, she worked as an Insurance Advisor.

Jade and Elle Macpherson attended the Pride of Britain Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 3 October 2011 in London, England.[3][4]

Additionally, Thompson attended the MOBO Awards, which were held on 5 October 2011 at SECC Glasgow. She presented an award with Lucien Laviscount for the 'Best International Act' category at the 2011 MOBO Awards.

The season finale was broadcast in the UK on 26 September 2011.[1]
