Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is a television reality show and the Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Concept[edit]

In Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, celebrities perform various dances together with professional dance partners. The show's format is taken from the Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC One in the UK.[1] The show is also pre-recorded, unlike Strictly Come Dancing and other spin-offs.[1] Of the spin offs, the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is the only one that uses recorded tracks rather than live music with an in-house band.[1]

Season 6[edit]

The show judged by Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'souza and Karan Johar. The finale took place on 14 September 2013 and was won by Drashti Dhami with Salman Yusuff Khan. The highest scorer of the series Lauren Gottlieb with Punit Pathak were the 1st runners up.[2]

Season 7[edit]

It was hosted by Ranvir Shorey[3] and Drashti Dhami who was later replaced by Manish Paul due to her lack of anchoring skills.

Remo D'souza, Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar are the judges. Maksim Chmerkovskiy was a guest judge for two weeks .The contestants are S. Sreesanth, Sophie Choudry, Purab Kohli, Karan Tacker, Mouni Roy, Kiku Sharda as Palak, Shakti Mohan, Sukhwinder Singh, Akshat Singh, Ashish Sharma and Pooja Bose. Sharma and Shampa were the winning team.[4]

Season 8[edit]

There is slight change in the judges for the show, reowned dancer turned actor and then superstar Shahid Kapoor is going to judge the show in place of Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Ganesh Hegde will be judging in place of choreographer-turned-director Remo D'Souza. The program is going to hosted by Manish Paul.[5] Kavita Kaushik, Radhika Madan, Sargun Mehta, Sanaya Irani, Deepika Samson, Mohit Malik, Aashish Chaudhary, Faisal Khan, Nora Fatehi, Puneet Issar, Neha Marda and Vivian Dsena would be the contestants of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 8.[6]
