Jimmy Burney, also known as J. Burney, is a Grammy and Juno nominated songwriter, vocal producer, and performer active in Los Angeles.

Career[edit]

Jimmy began singing and writing music at a young age. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a path in the performing arts.

Burney has worked with many names in the music industry including Diane Warren, David Foster, Steve Kipner, and Rodney Jerkins. As a vocalist he has recorded with Ray Charles, Michael Bolton, Jackson Browne, Ruben Studdard and Josh Groban, and performed with Mary J Blige and Queen Latifah[1]. His vocal performances have been featured in the Rock Of Ages, "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax," Behind The Candlelabra and "Glee."

As a songwriter, Burney has collaborated with Demi Lovato, Jacob Sartorius, Big Time Rush, Super Junior, Charlie Wilson, Shinee, W-inds, Girls' Generation-TTS, B1A4, Cody Simpson, Backstreet Boys, and Leon Thomas.[2][3]

Awards[edit]

Burney’s song "Like Magic," recorded by Canadian artist JRDN, was awarded SOCAN award in both the Urban and Pop categories.[4]
