Jodi Number One is a series reality dance show on the Indian STAR Vijay channel. Its contestants are couples who are generally TV stars in their own right, often from the television industry.[1][2][3] Prem & Pooja were the winners of the first season; Tinku & Preethi were the winners of the second.

Concept[edit]

The show has the unique concept of celebrity couples competing against one another. Major names in the television industry were given a platform to showcase another side of their persona. It is telecasted on Vijay TV Friday to Saturday at 8pm. Though the show's concept has originally derived from Nach baliye, the show had created a niche for itself in the small-screen. Vijay TV gained fame through this reality show. Now Vijay channel is considered to be telecasting best reality shows.

Jodi No. 1 - Season 1 was launched in October 2006.

The show witnessed four real life couples and 4 fictional (real) life couples engage in a 13-week dancing competition. The panel of judges composed of dance master Kala, popular actor Prashanth and the ravishing Ramya Krishnan chose the two finalists. The viewers themselves chose the third finalist.

Prem and Pooja - The winners of the Wild Card round were judgedthe champions of Jodi No. 1 by the audiences. They received 10 lakhs as the prize money.

Jodi no.1 season 2 began following the season 1's success among the Tamil audiences across Tamil Nadu. Jodi no.1 season 2 witnessed many small screen couples, with 8 new celebrity couples. The 8 couples were Kalaiselvan Tinku, Preethi, Yugendren, Hayma Malini, Sree, Krithika, Prithviraj, Uma Riyaz, Arvind, Lakshmi, Irfan, Monisha, Venkat, Nisha, Dev and Aishwarya.

Tinku and Preethi were the winners of Jodi no. 1 season 2, receiving the 10 lakh prizze, whereas Venkat and Nisha won the Best Performance award taking home the Chevy Spark.

Kiran(Kana kanum Kalangal) and Priya were the winners of Jodi Number 1 (3rd Series) (It was after Vijay Jodi No.1 Series 1, 2 and before Season 3).

The show also showed footage of the couples lifestyle's, their families, friends and the efforts put in for the competition.

Season 6[edit]

This Jodi Season 6 is very different from the past. Usually jodi's are paired with someone in the opposite gender but this time round they are paired with people of the same gender. The only exception is Nethran and his daughter Abhinaya. And usually in Jodi No 1 all the jodi's have been adults but this time they have allowed kids to participate too. This time round the famous host of Jodi No 1 Series & Boys VS Girls Divyadarshini & Deepak are not hosting this season instead Sivakarthikeyan who was a participant in one of the season and Bhavna, who has hosted the 'Miss Chennai Show' are hosting. In this season, other than Ramya Krishnan there isn't any confirmed judge. They are inviting new judges for each round. This season is kinda tough because of the gender, age and different dancing background/styles. And also they have made the show more exciting by having a pair from Singapore: Issac and Logan. This is also new to Jodi No 1 as usually all the participants are local artists. Finals was held on 6 November 2011. Manoj and Jayanth emerged as the winners of Jodi Number One: Season 6.
