John R. Hunting is a philanthropist who is the son of David D. Hunting, a founder of Steelcase, an office furniture manufacture based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2006 he was noted as a major contributor to liberal or progressive 527 organizations.[1][2][3] He was also the President of the Beldon Fund,[4] which was an environmental fund whose expiration he planned.[5] He is particularly active on environmental causes,[6][7] but funds other progressive causes like EMILY's List.
