José Reyes Vega was a Mexican priest who participated in the Cristero War as a General. He was one of the most popular Generals during the Cristero War and was known as "Father Vega".

In April 19, 1927, he directed an attack on the federal army on a train that killed over 50 Federal soldiers. The attack was spread by the press criticizing the comparison with the Zapatistas have organized on a train in Curnavaca. This attack has created various views as the official records reported carrying a large shipment of money and gold. This lacked evidence as the Cristero army did not leave alive any federal soldiers and the train was burned to leave no evidence. It is believed that in the attack, Father Reyes Vega's brother was killed, leaving his family behind, but has not been able to corroborate.

Father Reyes Vega was known for his explosive personality too.

He is also known for winning the Battle of Tepatitlán on March 17, 1929, against the forces of Saturnino Cedillo, led by General Pablo Rodriguez, but died during the fight.
