Josef Beckmann (4 May 1920 – 6 December 2001) was a highly decorated Leutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Josef Beckmann was captured by Soviet troops in July 1944 during the Lublin–Brest Offensive and was released in 1949.
