Template:Chinese name Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor JuJu Chan (born February 2, 1986) is a Hong Kong American actress, singer, Taekwon-Do (ITF) Athlete, and Kung Fu Star. She is also a winner in the Miss Chinatown 2009 pageant, and known as the "Female Bruce Lee" by the Hong Kong media.[1] Latest film: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny (Released on February 26, 2016).[2]

Acting career

  • 2016- JuJu is one of the stars in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny directed by Yuen Woo Ping'[3]
  • 2014- She is a Lead actress in Roger Corman’s new Hollywood feature action film “Fist of the Dragon”, playing Meili, who has a love relationship with a MMA fighter Josh Thomson, playing Damon, the lead actor.
  • 2013 Winner of Breakout Female Action Star in Action on Films International Film Festival 2013, "Hit Girls" (short) *Award shared with actress Maria Tran*.
  • 2012- She acts as one of the lead roles, Ping Wei, the head concubine, in Roger Corman’s new Hollywood feature thriller "Palace of the Damned" (Previous title as “The Living Dead”). Also played the lead actress, Pixie Ho, in an Australian-Chinese Production, "Hit Girls", an action comedy.[4]
  • 2011- Chan as Bruce Lee's kung fu sister in The Young Boxer (詠春小龍), her first action film directed by Antony Szeto, also coined as Female Bruce Lee by the Hong Kong Press and the only female actress in Hong Kong who has mastered the nunchuckus, including double nunchuchkus.
  • 2009- Chan starred in LUMINA as the title character. LUMINA started as a web series written and directed by Jennifer Thym. The nine-part web series is a dark, densely woven fantasy set against the sparkling backdrop of Hong Kong.[5][6]
  • In August 2009- Chan participated in the RTHK reality series Rich Mate Poor Mate (窮富翁大作戰), where four participants from wealthy backgrounds experience the lives of the not so fortunate. During the 120-hour experience, Chan (nicknamed "The Beauty Queen") has to live the life of a single immigrant mother in Hong Kong while taking care of her eight-year-old boy.[7]

  • 2013- She represented Hong Kong in the Taekwon-Do (ITF) World Championship in Bulgaria.[8]

  • 2014 Bronze medalist in Female 2nd Dan Pattern in the 7th ITF World Championship in Nepal.

Producing career

2013- JuJu is the Associate producer of Roger Corman’s new action film “Fist of the Dragon”, directed by Antony Szeto, and filmed at Ace Studios.

Pageant career

Chan participated in the Miss Chinatown USA Pageant in January 2009 in San Francisco, where she won the TVB People's Choice Award. She has also participated the United Nations Pageants International in July 2009 at Jamaica, where she has won Miss Congeniality, Miss United Nations China, Miss Photogenic, and Miss International Ambassador 2009.[9][9] She is also a semi-finalist in Miss Hong Kong 2010 but withdrew from the contest for personal reason.

Other work

Since Chan's involvement with Rich Mate Poor Mate she has enrolled in a local organization that works with children. She is part of the organization's mentorship program that helps the children in need.

In 2010, Chan became the spokesperson and ambassador of Heroes2, a charity organization which focuses on reforestation throughout the areas of rural China.[10] In August, she headlines the Heroes2 event "Be the Heroes2 Environmental Superstars" contest, where the charity searches for rising environmental stars.

Chan has also written her first semi-autobiography? To Live a Beautiful Life, releasing it in June 2010. In the book, Chan discusses her feelings about life, ideas about charity, her charitable mission, her experiences on Millionaires Fight Poverty.[11]

Personal life

Chan studied at the University of San Francisco and graduated with a bachelor's degree with honors in Computer Science and Mathematics in 2005 and followed it up with a master's degree in from the Tisch School of the Arts TV and film School in 2007. She immigrated to the United States with her parents at the age of 3 and settled in San Francisco. She has a twin sister.[citation needed] In her spare time, she enjoys hip hop, ballet, and Latin dancing, skiing, swimming, diving, and playing the piano.[12][13][14]
