Karnataka State Women’s University Bijapur also known as KSWUB was established in August 2003 and is the first university exclusively for women in Karnataka. It is situated in Bijapur. Dr Meena Chandavarakar from Bagalkote is incumbent Vice-Chancellor of the University.
It is recognized under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Seventy women's colleges spread in twelve districts of North-Karnataka are affiliated to this University. The University offers various UG programmes leading to Bachelor's degree in Arts, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Education, Fashion Technology, Home Science, Physical Education, Science and Social Work. It also offers 20 P G Courses, P G Diploma and Certificate Courses in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Management, Social Sciences, Science and Technology and Education.
It is recognized under DEC for Distance Education across India and abroad. The university is dedicated to promote excellence through academic achievement, research, creativity, innovation, interaction and collaboration, personality development and leadership qualities.
Global Women's B.Ed College
The Global Women's B.Ed College was started by the Mohammedia Educational Technical Social Charitable Trust in 2007. The college is at Jaleel Compound Payan Darga Road Area of Gulbarga, Karnataka. Global Women's B.Ed College is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education and affiliated to Karnataka State Women's University. Every year, 100 scholars enroll into this institution to become qualified teachers.
