Koteshwar is a village in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is located in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district. As of 2007 21,100 people lived in the village.It is also one of Seven Mukthi Stala's.It is also called Parashurama kshetras.

A temple located in Koteshwar gained attention when the surrounding shallow lake was cleaned in a desilting project. During the cleanup a large statue was dredged up, sparking a more concerted effort which recovered several artifacts of historic and religious significance, including several sculptures, statues, bronzework and religious icons.[1]

Koteshwar has a very old Shiva, Pattabhi Ramachandra and Mariamma temple. In Koteshwar there is a Lake of 4 acres (16,000 m2) called "Kotiteertha". In the year of 2007 the village people have renewed this lake.

In Koteshwar the car festival is very big occasion, and the very important thing in that car festival is newly married couples will come from different places and they will take sugar cane from the festival, it is an old tradition people still follow.

And the cart which is used for festival is Udupi districts second-biggest cart. On the day of cart festival with no indication of human beings every year an eagle will come and take rounds above the cart.
