Krysta Harden was United States Deputy Secretary of Agriculture from 2013 2016. She previously served for two years as the Secretary of Agriculture's Chief of Staff, from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, Harden served as Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations at the USDA from 2009 to 2011.[1]
Harden was born and raised in Camilla, Georgia, and has worked in the field of agriculture since graduating from the University of Georgia. When asked why she chose to work for the federal government, Harden responded, “Because I want to serve my country, and this was how I chose to do so.”[citation needed]
Harden was appointed Deputy Secretary by President Barack Obama in 2013. She resigned as Deputy Secretary in February 2016 and later assumed the position of Vice President of Public Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer at DuPont, a chemical conglomerate.[2][3]
