Miss Texas USA 2006[edit]

On June 26, Lauren captured the title of Miss Texas USA 2006 out of a pool of more than 130 contestants. As Miss Texas USA, Lauren continued to work closely with the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Shriner’s Burn Center, Susan G. Koman Foundation, and the Children’s Assessment Center of Houston. With four generations of breast cancer in her family, she and her sister co-founded a non-profit organization called, “Coins For the Cure”. The title of Miss Texas USA proved to be the perfect vehicle to champion this organization and educate people about the prevention and detection of breast cancer. On April 21, 2006, The 55th Annual Miss USA Competition was seen live from the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, M.D. on NBC. Lauren was named a Top 10 semi-finalist.

Before capturing the title Miss Texas USA she was named 3rd runner-up in 2004 as Miss Fort Bend County USA and 2nd runner-up in 2005 as Miss Bay Area USA in the Miss Texas USA pageant system. She had also competed in the Miss Texas Teen USA pageant in 2002 where she was named a semi-finalist as Miss Bay Area Teen USA 2001. Lauren and her sister, Taylor, became the first "sister" pair in Texas to win a Miss/Teen local pre-lim title together. Lauren was named Miss Bay Area USA 2004, while Taylor was named Miss Bay Area Teen USA 2004. Both placed Second runner up at the state level under the Bay Area title in 2005 and Lauren was named "Miss Photogenic". Lauren and Taylor made history by becoming the first sisters to win the titles of Miss Houston USA 2005/Miss Houston Teen USA 2005 in its 25-year history! Five years later, Taylor Lanning was crowned Miss Houston 2010.

Miss USA 2006[edit]

She placed in the Top 10 at the Miss USA Pageant which aired live on NBC April 21, 2006.
