Taxonomy and systematics[edit]

Two subspecies are recognized:[4]

Distribution and habitat[edit]

The lettered aracari is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
