Lincolnshire was primarily a bedroom community until the 1980s when the Lincolnshire Corporate Center opened in 1983 causing a boom of Tax revenue, population, and business growth in the region. This 330-acre (1.3 km2) business park developed by Van Vlissingen & Company contains over 3,500,000 square feet (330,000 m2) of commercial and industrial space in 30 buildings[1] and employs over 10,000 people. The development includes the headquarters of ACCO Brands and major facilities for Grainger, Inc., Hewitt Associates and Walgreens. The development and the corresponding growth in the community have substantially transformed the community into one of the major employment centers in Lake County, Illinois.[2]
