Dire Straits concert chronology

The Love over Gold Tour was a concert tour by British rock band Dire Straits of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour started on 30 November 1982 in Guildford, England, included 92 concerts in 61 cities, and ended on 23 July 1983 in London. The tour promoted and supported the group's fourth album, Love over Gold, which was released on 20 September 1982.[1]

The tour lineup included Mark Knopfler (guitar and vocals), John Illsley (bass), Alan Clark (keyboards), Hal Lindes (guitar), and new band member Terry Williams (drums), as well as guest musicians Mel Collins (saxophone) and Tommy Mandel (keyboards).[1]

Following the tour, the band released a double live album, Alchemy: Dire Straits Live, recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 22–23 July 1983, the final two concerts of the tour. The album did not include any overdubs or re-recordings. Alchemy: Dire Straits Live was also released as a video on VHS tape in 1984, and later released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats.[1]
