Mohan Raja (born 15 January 1976) is an Indian film director, primarily working in the Tamil film industry. As of 2015, he has directed eight films, all but one being remakes and so he is known by name Remake Raja.[1] But his latest film "Thani Oruvan" has completely made him as a "Raja of real cinema". His films mostly feature his brother Jayam Ravi in the lead and are produced by his father, editor Mohan under his home production studio, Jayam Company. He has also done a small role as a mixing artist in the Harichandra movie, starring Karthick Muthuraman, Meena and others in the lead role, released in 1998.

Mohan Raja was born to Mohan, who was named by actor Thangavel, editor of South Indian cinema, and Varalakshmi from Tirumangalam, Madurai.[2] Raja is the elder brother of actor, Jayam Ravi.[3] He made his directorial debut in Telugu with Hanuman Junction, a remake of the Malayalam film Thenkasi Pattanam, which remains his only non-Tamil project.[4] His next film, Jayam, a remake of the same-titled Telugu film, introduced his brother Jayam Ravi in the lead role. His subsequent directorials, M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi, Unakkum Enakkum, Santosh Subramaniam all featured his brother in the lead role and emerged commercial successes. His fifth film Thillalangadi with his brother again was an average grosser. He finished Velayudham with Vijay which released in 2011 which had a great opening and became a blockbuster.[5] Raja made his acting debut with Enna Satham Indha Neram.[6] Thani Oruvan, the director's first original script was released in 2015.[7]
