The Institute of Asian and African Studies is one of the faculties of Moscow State University. It was founded in 1956, April 24, to train specialists in various fields of Oriental and African studies — linguistics, economy, history, politics etc. Before 1972 it official name had been the Institute of Oriental Languages.
