PAOK[edit]

On 31 August 2017, PAOK announced the signing of Mauricio on a three-season contract, with an annual salary of €1.5 million. The contract reportedly also included a €10 million buy-out clause for any club interested in signing the player from PAOK. Mauricio had previously drawn the interest of many clubs around Europe in the summer, including Valencia, Anderlecht , and Hoffenheim but he decided to continue his career in Thessaloniki with PAOK.[6] On 30 October 2017, he scored a brace in a 2-0 Superleague home win game against Asteras Tripoli.[7]

[9] On 3 February 2019, Mauricio’s 10th-minute opener gave PAOK the lead in a tense opening, helping PAOK remain unbeaten in the SuperLeague after they held champions AEK Athens to a 1-1 draw in an absorbing derby clash at the Olympic Stadium.[10]

On 10 March 2019, he suffered has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, during a Super League home game against Atromitos F.C. It is estimated that he will be out for 6 months, effectively missing out on the rest of the 2018–19 season. [11]
