Mazzanti Automobili is an Italian company that operates in the automotive industry, producing handcrafted high performance cars. Founded in 2002 by Luca Mazzanti and Walter Faralli as Faralli & Mazzanti in Gello di Pontedera (PI). Born as a laboratory joining a workshops of restoration and a development center for supercars, it was split in two distinct realities in 2010: “Mazzanti Automobili” and “Faralli Restauri”. The brand Mazzanti Automobili got international exposure [1][2][3][4][5] due to Mazzanti Evantra coupé, put (together with the company and the founder) in the archive and in the collection of the Museum of Tuscan Design (Mu.De.To).[6]

Mazzanti Evantra was presented at the “Top Marques Monaco Show 2013” and selected by Sony Computer Entertainment for its driving simulator “Driveclub”.[7][8] The company's main markets are Europe, Russia China and United Arab Emirates.[9][10]

The beginnings: Faralli & Mazzanti

The origins of Mazzanti Automobili date back to a close professional marriage between Luca Mazzanti, specialized in design and development of handcrafted supercars, and Walter Faralli, specialized in the restoration of classic cars. The two partners decided to join forces and set up a small automobile’s workshop, which was intended both to restore vehicles and to let their design skills be known to automobile fans. This union gave birth to Faralli & Mazzanti and to some exotic cars, such as the F&M Antas, which in a short time and despite a very young brand, received international visibility.[11][12] Upon creating a market around the brand, the two partners took independent working life and, in 2010, decided to concentrate on their own inclinations (restoration of classic cars for Faralli, design and supercars construction for Mazzanti). Thus began the journey which brought the Mazzanti Automobili brand to an independent international visibility.

The Evantra project

In 2011 Luca Mazzanti, after three years of work and with the support of the designer Zsolt Tarnok,[13] presented the project “Evantra”,[14] a mid-engine coupé, designed to be produced in a very limited number and highly customizable. During 2012 Mazzanti realized models in scale 1:1 and began construction of the very first unit. In 2013 the Mazzanti Evantra,[15] just completed, was presented in a World premiere during the “Top Marques Monaco Show”[16] obtaining international visibility through the press at the show, so much so that the Tuscan company was contacted by many of the largest international car magazines. The influence of the car, even outside of the target market of the company is also evidenced by the inclusion of Mazzanti Automobili inside the Museum of Tuscan Design, and inclusions of Evantra between the products of famous crafters of collectable models and/or toys.[17][18] Even Sony Entertainment showed interest in the car, asking permission to use the commercial rights of Evantra on a popular driving simulation videogame. The company, after a production reorganization in order to produce 5 Evantra specimens per year,[19] identified in the project of the “Pontedera Circuit” the right place for his new research center. Final tests of Evantra were instead made in Autodromo di Modena.[20][21]
