Meaghan Jette Martin is an American actress and singer who is best known for her role as Tess Tyler in the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock. She has also made guest appearances on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Close to Home, and Just Jordan.[1] She had two solo songs in Camp Rock, "Too Cool" and "2 Stars".[2] She also sings a version of "When You Wish Upon a Star" for the 2009 DVD/Blu-Ray release of Disney's Pinocchio.[3] She is also the new voice of Naminé in Kingdom Hearts: Re:Chain of Memories, and may return for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. She will also be appearing in the upcoming ABC Family series 10 Things I Hate About You.[4] Martin stars in the upcoming Camp Rock 2, which is currently in production.[5]
Early Life
Meaghan was born on February 17, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has an little brother, Zachary, an older brother, Sean, and an older sister, Rebecca.
Career
Meaghan Jette Martin started her acting career at age five, when she appeared in plays in Las Vegas, and later in Los Angeles. She was involved in productions such as 13 Workshop, Sleeping Beauty, School House Rock Live!, Dorothy Meets Alice, The Wind in the Willows and Grease. She also appeared in a fashion show for Disney, as well as several television commercials such as for Cabbage Patch Kids and Barbie.
Meaghan made her television debut in 2006, with the television pilot Cooking Rocks! It was followed by roles in programs such as Nickelodeon’s Just Jordan and CBS’ Close to Home, as well as a guest stint in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. She was eventually cast as the lead antagonist in the Disney Channel television movie Camp Rock, which also stars Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers. She sang the song "Brand New You" from James Robert Brown's musical play 13 for her Camp Rock audition. Here, she plays Tess Tyler, who attended camp to become a pop star, as well as to be “too cool.” Popular but very mean, she constantly picks on other camp participants, especially Mitchie (Lovato). She also sang two songs for the program’s soundtrack.
Meaghan, who is also trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop and tap dancing, was selected by TV Guide as one of the "13 Hottest Young Stars to Watch".[citation needed] She is set to play a minor role in the 2008 drama "Privileged", alongside Adam Butcher and Nikki Reed,[citation needed] and reprise the role of Tess Tyler in Camp Rock 2.
Meaghan's latest project is the ABC Family pilot, "10 Things I Hate About You", as Bianca. She also recently had the role of Megan in the independent film Dear Lemon Lima.
