What is the point of this page?[edit]

The page only contains the coding: "About Wikipedia," and that is all. Maybe I am missing something, but what purpose is this page serving? Dustin (talk) 22:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is the text for the "About Wikipedia" link at the bottom of site. If you go to the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCII?uselang=qqx , you'll see "(aboutsite)" at the bottom where "About Wikipedia" usually appears. See the page mw:Help:System message for more information about system messages and "the qqx trick".
If it will be "About {{SITENAME}}", it will work just the same functionally, but may make the site slower. At least that's how it used to be in the past. Maybe the slowness has been fixed; if it was fixed, then this message can be simply deleted. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 18:53, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Tim Starling, is this still relevant for performance? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:25, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is still relevant. -- Tim Starling (talk) 22:49, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I should have just looked more closely at the tag at the top of the page; there is documentation at mw:Manual:Interface/Aboutsite. Dustin (talk) 00:37, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
