"id" attribute and wording[edit]

Add a CSS id attribute to this message so that it can be customized with user CSS. Enclosing the entire thing with <div id="movepagetalktext"> ... </div> should be fine.

Also, this message only seems to be displayed when the talk page actually exists (try it), so some of the wording is unnecessary. I'd suggest replacing:

"The associated talk page, if any, will be automatically moved along with it unless:"

with:

"This page has a talk page, which will be automatically moved along with it unless:"

I wonder if the "across namespaces" part is outdated by now, since it was removed form the language file (see MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext/en). —AlexSm 17:27, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agree This is outdated since it seems to be untrue. I just moved a page from my user namespace to the mainspace. Could we get an administrator to look at this? The page should be edited to look just like this page. By the way, can anyone tell me why this file would be used instead of MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext/en? @Negative24 and Graham87: Before the edit above, I also saw the bullet "You are moving the page across namespaces,"; and my language is set to "en". To the question "why this file would be used instead of MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext/en", the answer is that if the language set in your preferences is the default language for the wiki, the messages that are displayed to you are those without a language suffix. This being the English Wikipedia, and the default language for this wiki is "en", there are no circumstances under which the "/en"-suffixed messages are shown. On a wiki whose default language is, say, "fr" (such as the French Wikipedia), the message fr:MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext is in French; and if you then set your preference language to "en", you would then be shown the messages with suffixed names, i.e. fr:MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext/en instead. On French Wikipedia, the "/fr"-suffixed messages are never shown. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:55, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Move some text to MediaWiki:Movepagetext-noredirectfixer?[edit]

I think the final, customized sentence of this message:

Should be moved to MediaWiki:Movepagetext-noredirectfixer (and MediaWiki:Movepagetext, but I'm not sure if that's ever used).

After recent software changes, this message has been moved from the top of Special:MovePage to a tooltip next to the relevant field, it now looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/wdMwu4p.png. This text is clearly intended to be shown at the top of the page, where the MediaWiki:Movepage-summary appears.

After this is done, MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext should probably be deleted to restore the default message (which had its wording refreshed, you can see it at MediaWiki:Movepagetalktext/en). Matma Rex talk 17:23, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
