The Indian Armed Forces is the overall unified military of the Republic of India encompassing the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy. The President of India serves as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. With an estimated total active force of 1,325,000 personnel, India maintains the world's second largest armed forces.

  • India Surgical strike 2016- On 29 September 2016, Director General of Military Operation disclosed that Indian Para Commandos have carried out a surgical strike 2–3 km inside Pakistan administered Kashmir crossing the Line of Control. As per the statement, the operation was started at 12:30 AM and ended at 4:30 AM. It was reported that nearly 5-8 terror launch pads were destroyed and the operation caused significant casualties including death of several militants and 2 Pakistani Rangers.[1] However, ISPR rejected any kind of surgical strike inside Pakistani side of LoC.[2]
