2011 shooting

On January 5, 2011, Robert Butler Jr., a senior at Millard South, was suspended for trespassing on school grounds on January 1, 2011, in which he drove his car onto the school's football field. The suspension was carried out by Assistant Principal Dr. Vicki Kaspar and resulted in Butler being escorted out of the school by security. At 12:45 PM, Butler returned to the school and shot Kaspar as well as Principal Dr. Curtis Case, leaving the two wounded[1]. Butler fled the school and was later found dead in a car about two miles away after committing suicide[2]. Both advisors were hospitalized Saint Joseph Hospital at Creighton University Medical Center where Kaspar died from her injuries hours later. [3]
