Modern expressionism

Modern expressionism is an alternative term for Symbolism.[1] Visual artists described as modern expressionist include the American painter Marcus Jansen South African Gerard Sekoto, whose work in the 1940s drew on Fauvism and Post-Impressionism.[2]
