Moorkanade or Moorkanad or Murkanad means 'murukante'(LORD SHIVA)Nad(place) is a village in Trichur, Kerala, India. It is bordered by Karuvannoor and Katoor. Its postal code is 680711. Murkanad is the part of irinjalakuda municipality.

Notable sites include the local Siva Temple (is very ancient temple sustained many foreign attacks) Saint Anthony's High School, and the local Roman Catholic church (which has been recently renovated). Moorkanad Illikkal Dam is in Karuvannur river. Hidayathul Islam Madrasa is very near to Illikkal Dam as is a water pumping station.

The way to reach Murkanad is either from Karuvannur valiyapalam or from Karuvannur puthan thode. It is 1.5 km from valiyapalam and 2 km from puthenthode. Many buses are running from Trichur and Irinjalakuda via Murkanad which go to Katoor, Karalam and Edamuttam. There is a Telephone exchange at Murkanad.The village has a very high literacy rates. There's a strong emphasis on education and health care.
