Mousa Kalantari (Persian: موسی کلانتری‎; born 1949 in Marand — assassinated 1981 in Tehran) was an Iranian politician and former cabinet minister in the government of Abolhassan Banisadr.[1] Kalantari was martyred in a terrorist attack on 28 June 1981, when a bomb exploded during a party conference (Hafte tir bombing) martyring him and 32 other leading politicians. In this meeting Kalantari was the main candidate to become the next prime minister of Iran. [2] The Islamic Republic first claimed the bomb was planted by the Tudeh Party, but also accused SAVAK, Mehdi Tafari, Iraqi agents, People's Mujahedin of Iran, United States, and "international mercenaries".[3] [4]
