Nagqu Dagring Airport will be the world's highest altitude airport by 2011 at 4,436 meters above sea level. Nagqu was chosen to host the largest logistics center in the plateau region, which began operations in August 2009. Nagqu is also on the Qinghai-Tibet railway line. It is expected to become the center of an economic hub in the plateau region. Nagqu has a population of 400,000.
Note: Taiwan is claimed as a province, but is administered by the Republic of China (see Political status of Taiwan). Hong Kong and Macau are claimed as provincial-level divisions, but as listed on the constitutional documents and joint declarations their statuses are better to be interpreted as first-level divisions instead of provincial-level divisions.
