Nate'n Al Delicatessen of Beverly Hills is a famous delicatessen located on Beverly Drive in the Rodeo Drive shopping area of Beverly Hills, California. It has been a world-famous delicatessen or deli in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Hollywood since 1945, often serving as an informal office and meeting place for show business personalities, agents and executives, as well as starlights hoping to break into "the business".

History[edit]

Nate’n Al’s success over the years is based largely on tradition – a tradition of offering delicious deli fare in generous quantities and in a setting that promotes conversation and camaraderie. The tradition was started in 1945 by two idealistic young men, Al Mendelson (a Russian native who moved to California from Detroit) and Nate Rimer, and has since been passed down through the generations to two Mendelson grandsons, Mark and David, who daily strive to carry on that tradition in a way that honors their Grandfather.

The original recipes are grandparents Mendelson's from 1945 that are still used today, and over 90% of the food we serve is cooked fresh in-house every day. Over the years, Nate'n Al has received numerous accolades for some of our most famous dishes including its matzo ball soup, which was named Best Matzo Ball Soup in Los Angeles Magazine’s feature issue, “Best Of LA,“ and our Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich was ranked first in the "Best Reuben in Los Angeles" category by CBS/Los Angeles.

And Nate'n Al Delicatessen in Los Angeles is proud of the its staff who enthusiastically prepares and serves the food each day to regulars, loyal fans and first time guests curious to see what all the fuss is about. If you’ve been with Nate'n Al Deli before, they invite you to return and experience all that there is to love about Nate’n Al. If this is your first time, Nate'n Al welcome you, certain to win you over with the very first bite.

Menu[edit]

Nate'n Al proudly features only the finest Corned Beef, Brisket, Hamburgers, Stuffed Cabbage and Short Ribs. Our Nova Salmon is a WILD SMOKED SALMON and our finest smoked fish products are flown in from New York, with the exception of our Barbecued Cod and Belly Lox.

We cook and fry with Canola Oil, the vegetable oil with “0”g TRANS fat and no cholesterol. It is an excellent choice to help meet present dietary recommendations for reducing saturated fat and cholesterol intake.

Our world-famous Nate 'n Al special hot dogs are all beef franks that snap with flavor. They're so tasty that they've been named "Best Hot Dog" by Reader's Digest and Hollywood director Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, Julie & Julia) told the Sunday New York Times if she could have one final meal, it would be "a Nate 'n Al hotdog." Best of all, our dogs are available for nationwide shipping by ordering in-store at Nate 'n Al, or online at foodsacrossamerica.com.

Each serving of Nate 'n Al potato salad is homemade and everyone absolutely adores our potato pancakes, prepared just like grandma used to make.

Other specialties include Nate 'n Al cole slaw and our world-famous rye bread which is baked fresh daily using a unique "double baked" process to make it crisp on the outside, soft and perfect on the inside. It's so unique that countless people (chefs and novices alike) have tried to recreate our rye bread at home, but have never been successful.

Nate'n Al Delicatessen also have a secret recipe for the blend of spices used to prepare our corn beef and pastrami. After a generous spice rub, our pastrami is brought to an ideal internal temperature that makes it burst with flavor. Our brisket is slow roasted to melt in your mouth. So well-prepared and delicious that it even passes Chickie's test.

The true mavens of smoked fish appreciate Nate 'n Al's high-quality smoked fish that is flown in from New York City (yes, flown in!). And we proudly serve wild smoked salmon, the healthiest choice available.

If it's tuna salad you crave, nothing compares to the Nate 'n Al recipe that's been handed down through the family. We could try to put the taste into words, but everyone agrees it's simply indescribable. Come taste this signature dish for yourself and you'll see why.
