National Cycle Route 14, part of the National Cycle Network in North East England, will run from Barnard Castle in County Durham north-east to Hartlepool, then north-west through Durham to Consett and then back north-east to South Shields along the south side of the River Tyne. The route is 129 kilometres long.

Open Sections[edit]

The route is open and signed between Stockton-on-Tees and South Shields as the Three Rivers Cycle Route, much of the route is traffic-free on disused railway paths. Barnard Castle to Stockton-on-Tees via Darlington is still under development, however some of the route between Barnard Castle and Darlington is signed as Regional Route 52.
