The Open Source Software World Challenge (OSSWC) is the annual competition hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of Korea. This competition is mainly intended to promote open-source software and expand various exchanges among open-source software developers all over the world.

Open Source Software is the annual competition hosted by The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of Korea. This competition is mainly intended to promote open source software and expand various exchanges among open source software developers all over the world. The competition invites Open Source Software developers from all over the world to participate at the competition with projects they have been developing within one year or with the software that they had been developing for a long period of time. In addition, even projects over one year old will be accepted, if they have been significantly improved recently.There is no limit for the number of team members.

Vision[edit]

  • Bring together the gems of open source developers to cultivate developing-skills through cooperated projects which will eventually expand the open source minds/spirit and practices among community.
  • To cultivate potential committer by sharing creative and innovative ideas for developing open source software.
  • To empower competitiveness of Korean open source community by providing opportunities for local developers to interact with global developers.
  • Award outstanding projects to promote open source software among people/society as well as to grow founding community of open source software.

Criteria of participation[edit]

The competition is open to everyone. However, participants under the age of 12 must obtain parental permission in order to qualify for the contest.
