Parchaiyan was a Pakistani television serial presented by the PTV network. It was the first coloured Pakistani drama serial.[1] It was translated and adapted by the writer Haseena Moin[1] and directed by Mohsin Ali and Shirin Khan. The drama serial was an adaptation of the Henry James novel Portrait of a Lady. The drama serial had an ensemble cast as all the top stars of that time were included in this classic drama serial. The ensemble cast featured Rahat Kazmi, Sahira Kazmi, Shakeel, Talat Hussain, Azra Sherwani, Begum Khursheed Mirza, Mohammad Yousaf. The drama serial is considered a classic and is famous even today mainly due to its dialogues, which had a philosophical touch. The drama is considered to have produced the best dialogues ever from PTV.

Plot

The story revolves around Najia (Sahira Kazmi) and the men in her life. Despite the love that Adeel (Rahat Kazmi) had always shown Najia, Shiraz (Talat Hussain) wins her hand despite the fact that he is only interested in her money. When Najia finally leaves Shiraz to return to Adeel, who has cancer, she finds that he has died.
