Phi Phi O'Hara is the stage name of Jaremi Carey[1], a drag performer, television personality and singer. He is best known for competing on the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race in 2012 and its second All Star season in 2016.

Early life[edit]

Carey was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 10, 1985.[2] He is of Portuguese-Filipino descent.

His drag mother is RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 contestant Asia O'Hara.[3]

Before his first appearance on TV in 2011, Carey worked as an optician and lab technician.[4]

Career[edit]

Carey as Phi Phi O'Hara was announced as one of the thirteen contestants for RuPaul's Drag Race season 4 on November 13, 2011.[5] He achieved a runner-up position alongside Chad Michaels and lost to Sharon Needles. He came back for RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 2 in 2016 and initially made it to top 5, but after the return of two previously eliminated contestants placed seventh overall.

Carey also made an appearance on season 3 episode 4 of Skin Wars.[6]

He was featured in the music videos for "Stranger" by Chris Malinchak,[7] "Battle Axe" by Sharon Needles[8], "Ratchet Christmas" by Jiggly Caliente[9] and "Knew You Seemed Shady" by season 2 contestant Pandora Boxx.[10]

In 2016, he gained attention for posting drag looks for every day of the year, calling it "365 Days of Drag", which he successfully completed.[11] In 2017, Carey organized a drag benefit show to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Irma in Puerto Rico, which featured other Drag Race alumni.[12] The event took place on November 6, 2017 in Minneapolis and raised $80,000.[13]

On August 16, 2018 he made an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side[14] with Kim Woodburn, Richard Blackwood and Andrew Brady.

Personal life[edit]

In January 2017, Carey married his longtime boyfriend Mikhael Mikhol.[15]

Carey has been releasing music as Phi Phi O'Hara since 2014, but he started performing under his real name too in 2015.

He is featured in the first three volumes of the "Christmas Queens" albums with "O Come, All Ye Faithful" (2017),[22] "Fireside" (2016)[23] and "Naughty or Nice" (2015).[24] In 2018, Carey recorded a duet with Jiggly Caliente for her album "T.H.O.T. Process" called "Beat of My City".[25]
