Pinstorm is a digital advertising firm headquartered in Mumbai, India with offices in New Delhi, Bangalore, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Zurich and Santa Clara. It was founded in 2004 and ranks amongst the leading digital advertising firms in the world.[1] The company is founded by Mahesh Murthy who was also its COO until recently.,[2] and in 2005 stood amongst the "Asia's Top 100 Technology Companies" in first "Red Herring 100 Asia list" published by Red Herring magazine.[3]

History

When first founded, Pinstorm focused solely on Search Engine Marketing. Over the years, the company has evolved to include Display advertising, web and mobile presence, online communities, viral advertising, search engine optimisation, social media marketing, online reputation management, SMS, WAP, and email marketing all delivered on an integrated basis.[4] In March, 2008, Pinstorm announced a non-equity partnership with the Lintas Media Group in India which allowed the latter to push clients to performance-driven media choices for online advertising. Pinstorm has similar relationships with other advertising agencies in other geographies.[5] Pinstorm is now known for its marketing efforts using Twitter and social media networks [6][7] at the first 140Conf in New York City

Pay-for-Performance / Accountable Advertising

Pinstorm is one of the earliest proponents of accountable marketing services or Pay for performance advertising. The company does not charge a retainer fee, media or creative charges. Clients are only charged on the basis of the results their communication campaigns deliver.[8]
