Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys 2005.jpg

The Backstreet Boys (sometimes referred to as BSB) are an American vocal group, formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993. The group consists of A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, and Kevin Richardson. They rose to fame with their debut international album, Backstreet Boys (1996), and to world superstardom with their album Millennium (1999) and its follow-up album, Black & Blue (2000).

After a two-year hiatus, they regrouped and released their comeback album Never Gone (2005). Richardson left the group in 2006, several months after the conclusion of the Never Gone tour to pursue other interests. The group then recorded and released two albums as a four-piece: Unbreakable (2007) and This Is Us (2009).

In 2011, the group co-headlined the NKOTBSB Tour with New Kids on the Block, and in 2012 Richardson rejoined them right after they finished the tour. As of July 2012, all members of the group are living together working on their new album in London.

The Backstreet Boys have sold over 130 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band of all time, and one of the world's best-selling music artists. According to Billboard, they are the first group since Sade to have their first seven albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Selected article

Unbreakable is the Backstreet Boys' sixth studio album, fifth in the United States. It was released on October 24, 2007 in Japan[1] and October 30 in the United States by Jive Records. This is the first Backstreet Boys album that Kevin Richardson has had no involvement in, who made the decision to pursue other interests.

Unlike previous Backstreet Boys albums, this album features no collaborations with longtime producers and friends Max Martin and Kristian Lundin who had worked on the group's previous albums. The Backstreet Boys fully abandoned the Max Martin sound of many of their early hits and, instead, worked with different producers to sound more mature. The sound leans to adult contemporary and contemporary pop music and features interwoven choral harmonies, piano, strings, and use of guitar and drums.

Dan Muckala, producer and co-songwriter of the group's hit single "Incomplete" from their last album Never Gone, is the producer of the bulk of the material. However, other producers like Emanuel Kiriakou, John Shanks and Billy Mann worked on the album too. Fellow boy band veteran JC Chasez of *NSYNC takes the Backstreet Boys into upbeat pop territory familiar to both goups with his production and songwriting skills.

Brian Thomas Littrell is an American singer-songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the Backstreet Boys. He is also a contemporary Christian recording artist and released a solo album, Welcome Home, in 2006. Brian has 4 Top 20 solo singles in the US Christian chart.

Born on February 20, 1975 in Lexington, Kentucky, United States, he has one older brother and he is the cousin of a fellow Backstreet Boys member Kevin Richardson. Music was always important to him, and originally planned on entering school to become a music minister and has received a scholarship from Cincinnati Bible College. Littrell, while a senior in high school, changed plans and accepted the offer to join what would become the very successful new boy band, the Backstreet Boys.

Littrell was also a judge for the 8th annual Independent Music Awards to support independent artists' careers.
