Comment: Has this map been tested for accuracy? Also, I'm not sure if it is a technical problem, but most of the small place names are not legible on my screen even at full blown resolution.--thunderboltz^(Deepu) 14:08, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

The map cites its source as NHAI. You can cross-check with that. The place names look small because the font size setting in your browser is small. Try increasing the font size. In firefox, it is ("Ctrl" + "+"). This should fix the problem on your PC. Anyways, SVG images don't have the rastering effect you are talking about. Try opening the image in notepad and see for yourself that everything is written in plain text. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 14:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Even I saw the problem, but couldn't understand why this is happening. When I view the full images on my computer, there is absolutely no noticeable difference in quality (or sharpness), but the thumbnails here have significant difference. Do take the trouble to cite specific instances when making such a general statement.

Since when did being "unique on the internet" become a requirement for any FP?

Since you use the word "seem", I assume that you haven't really checked if this picture is actually common or not. Do search on the internet for photographs of Nishi tribals - maybe you'll reconsider your vote then - doniv 16:23, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

The earliest form of the Buddha worshipped in India, the Sakyamuni Buddha depicts the moment he attained enlightenment

Shamelessly nominating my own picture. This is a photograph of the 8 mtr high gilded statue of the Buddha in Tawang Gompa. This depicts the Sakyamuni Buddha, the moment at which he attained enlightenment. The Buddha is seen in a "ground-touching" pose, where he touches his lotus with the tip of his hand and with a serene expression on his face. I've added this to the Buddha article, since it was lacking a picture from a well-known Gompa, and especially one in this state (pose). Do see the picture in it's full size - there's a lot of beautiful detail which is not apparent in the resized version.

For a Nikon camera, I suggest to shoot the image again with the scene mode selected as Landscape→Architecture for better results. Kandariya Mahadeva Temple

A high-res picture of a temple at Khajuraho that I took in 1999 with my Nikon camera. It is one of the most famous temples from the period and I am somewhat happy with the way the photo turned out. It is linked on the Kandariya Mahadeva page and a self-nom for Did you know. I forgot to mention that I'd like the nominations to be defered to next week since I myself support the Somnath Temple picture Feature.

• Oppose. The image has blown over yellow shade. Looks like it is scanned out of an analog camera. In a lot of places, colours are missing. Also at a few places, dust particles on the photograph as much as 2mm across can be seen. Two of them are so big that they are visible in the thumbnail also. The photograph overall looks out of focus. It is usually difficult to focus with such large perspective, but on inspection, I find that everything is out of focus. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 12:26, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

The nomination is withdrawn per your comments. The photo was taken on a film camera and scanned. The "out of focus" business may be my inability to focus properly or that the scanning resolution is far greater than the picture resolution (i.e. the pic is blown up).
