"The Hawking Excitation" is the 21st episode of the fifth season of The Big Bang Theory. It aired on April 5, 2012 and features a guest appearance by scientist Stephen Hawking (pictured). The episode received mostly positive reviews.

Hawking had been asked to appear on the show previously, but was too ill to appear. He says he is a big fan of The Big Bang Theory and watched a rehearsal of the episode after his scene was filmed.

In the episode, Howard is hired to maintain Hawking's wheelchair and Sheldon is desperate to meet him. Sheldon is forced to complete various humiliating tasks for Howard, before finally meeting his hero.

Leonard Hofstadter is a character on The Big Bang Theory played by Johnny Galecki (pictured). Sometimes called the straight man in the show, Leonard is an experimental physicist who lives with Sheldon Cooper, his annoying roommate.

Leonard's main love interest, Penny, moves into the apartment across the hall from him in the Pilot and he becomes immediately fond of her; they have an on-again, off-again relationship. He has brief relationships with Leslie Winkle, Stephanie Barnett and Priya Koothrappali, but becomes engaged to Penny in "The Gorilla Dissolution".

"Pilot" is the first episode of The Big Bang Theory; it aired on September 24, 2007.

Penny moves in across the hall from Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, two incredibly talented physicists. Leonard is attracted to Penny and invites her over for dinner, to Sheldon's annoyance. Leonard is slightly embarrassed by his apartment, which is full of items relating to Star Wars, Star Trek and comic books. Penny asks Leonard and Sheldon to pick up her TV from her ex-boyfriend; they fail, after finding Kurt is tall, strong and aggressive.

Raj Koothrappali and Howard Wolowitz are also introduced: the former is too socially anxious to speak in the presence of women, while the latter tries to flirt with Penny repeatedly, to her dismay.

"The Convention Conundrum" is the 14th episode of the seventh season of The Big Bang Theory. It aired on January 30, 2014 and features a guest appearance by Star Wars actors James Earl Jones (pictured) and Carrie Fisher. The episode was watched by 24.75 million viewers and received mostly positive ratings.

In the episode, the guys fail to get into Comic-Con and while Leonard, Howard and Raj consider scalped tickets, Sheldon has a different response...

The fifth season of The Big Bang Theory lasted for 24 episodes. It first ran between September 22, 2011 and May 10, 2012.

The season begins with Penny regretting having slept with Raj. During season 5, Leonard breaks up with Priya and starts dating Penny again. Amy attempts to go further in her relationship with Sheldon, whose behaviour towards others is still infuriating and causes much argument. Howard and Bernadette get married shortly before Howard goes into space, while Raj is left as the only single member of the group.
