European Society in the 18th Century:
-Community: You maintained a certain status through social order and status was given through default. Having land was the most important thing to own of that time period. You were usually given land mostly by the king but could earn it through farming or trading.
-Economy: Again, land is important to society and is often controlled by the elite. Still at this time many peasants worked for the elite but in the case of France and Britian they had the right to be free of this as serfdom was destroyed. Yet, the elite still owned most of the land.
-French Fur trading beginnings: Samuel De Champlain established a trading post in 1608 in present day Quebec.
