Pullur is a village in Medak district in the state of Telangana, India.[1]

Geography

Pullur is located at .[2] It has an average elevation of 475 metres (1558 feet).Pullur is major village in Siddipet Mandal. It is situated 10 km away from Siddipet town and on the way from siddipet to Nizamabad. Another PULLUR in the same name are located in Thirissur Dt in Kerala and Ramnad Dt inTamilNadu.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Pullur had a population of 14157 with 6862 males and 7295 females.[1]

Politics

Historically Pullur was a strong congress supporting village. K.Vengal Rao was the Sarpanch for nearly 20 years representing congress. In 80's when KCR entered into politics and join NTR Telugu desam Pullur also switched to Telugu desam along with many other villages in Siddipet mandal. After the formation of TRS, pullur is also one of the strongholds of TRS and Harish Rao. Swamicharan who was the medak district congress president for quite some time is also from Pullur.

Education

Two government schools are located in Pullur village. One is primary school located opposite to village Panchayat Office and education available from 1st clss to 5th Class. Second one is High school located opposite to Government Hospital and education available from 6th to 10th Class. Other than government schools, private schools also available in Pullur Village. Well known private school was "Anjayya Sir Badi". Where people use to learn basics of Telugu & Urdu.

Rivers & Lakes

Three lakes are located around Pullur village which are Venktaya Cheruvu, Padamati Cheruvu & Banda Cheruvu.

Transport

APSRTC bus transport facility is available from Siddipet to Pullur according to limited scheduled timings. Autos are frequently available transport media to reach Pullur from Siddipet. Most of the people of Pullur village are having their own vehicles like two wheelers & Cars. Another major public transport facility from Pullur to Hyderabad APSRTC bus which is available everyday morning at 5:30.

Temples and Churches

Very famous Ramaswamy temple located 1 km away from Pullur village. This temple is located on rock which is 100 acres (0.40 km2) area and 300 ft (91 m). height. Once in year there will be "Pullur Banda Jatara" Festival happens in the month of January or February for three days. Mid of the rock there is "Gundam" to take a holy dip before entering to the temple. On the same rock another side Lord Shiva temple also located. Few other temples also located in Pullur Village which are Lord Shiva Temple, Lord Hanuman Temple, Goddess Pochamma Temple, Goddess Yellamma Temple & Goddess Peddamma

One oil industry started in Pullur and due to no demand the same has been closed.
