Founded in 1948 as Rapid Metal Developments Ltd, as a subsidiary of Robert M Douglas Ltd,[citation needed], the company received the Queens Award to Industry in 1975.[citation needed] RM Douglas was acquired by Interserve in 1991, and after Interserve's acquisition of Kwikform operations in the United Kingdom were transferred to RMD Kwikform in 1999.[citation needed]

In 2010, RMD Kwikform was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise.[citation needed] Projects built using RMD Kwikform equipment include:[citation needed]

In 2015 RMD Kwikform launched their new Ground Shoring range of products. The range extends RMD Kwikform's capabilities to ground works applications. With a complete range of boxes, struts, walers, and heavy duty shoring props RMD Kwikform has extended its capability well beyond just its traditional temporary works applications.
