Rand Simberg is a rightwing [1] American blogger who was found guilty of defaming climate scientist Michael Mann in 2024.[2] The suit was based on a column Simburg wrote on the Competitive Enterprise Institute website that compared Mann to convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky.

Simburg wrote: “Mann could be said to be the Jerry Sandusky of climate science, except that instead of molesting children, he has molested and tortured data in the service of politicized science that could have dire economic consequences for the nation and planet."[3][4][5]

He is the author of the 2013 book Safe Is Not An Option: Overcoming The Futile Obsession With Getting Everyone Back Alive That Is Killing Our Expansion Into Space. He lives in Laramie, Wyoming. [citation needed]
