Rashad Naqaweh (Arabic: رشاد نقاوة; born 21 May 1967) is a Syrian businessman, based since 2007 in the Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic. He is a shareholder of Gafo Group, a multi-disciplined holding family company started in 1953 and is today engaged in an array of business activities. Today present in 15 countries with products and services distributed worldwide.[1]

Personal life[edit]

Born in Damascus in 1967, Naqaweh obtained an MD Degree in 1992 before working as an active member within his family's legacy.[2][3] subsequently leading the companies to international success. Rashad Naqaweh and his family were included in TheNewArab News Article, in which he and his family are stated to be worth £217m.[4] It is said he currently resides in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic in which he manages to travel back and forth to manage the family businesses throughout The Middle East, Africa and Europe.[5][6][7][8]

Business career[edit]

In 1992 he took over Genz Holdings Limited selling pharmaceuticals, canned-foodstuff and commodities to the Syrian market which gave him his first role of taking over his father's fortune.[9] In 2007 his family incorporated GAFO (Co No 9429033277448), which their first project was an establishment of Geothermal Plant in Comoros Islands worth 120 million Euros.[10] After that, Naqaweh started aiming on expanding even more in which his business career today ranges from Telecom, Energy, Construction, Food Import & Export, and Pharmaceuticals.[11][12][13]

Today Gafo is a multi-disciplined organization and one of the most diversified groups of companies, which –in its current structure of third generation- started in 1953 and is today engaged in an array of business activities. Today present in 15 countries with products and services distributed worldwide. Within the group are 8 different companies in which each one of them is diversified in a different segment. Gafo Group today has revenues and assets of over 150 million Euros worldwide.[14][15]

The Group ranges as follows:

GAFO CONSTRUCT involved in the construction business. Lager scale constructions require more human capital, multitasking, resources, management, design…. Therefore, they have been diversified into three main categories of concrete, asphalt, and water purification plants.[16]

GAFO AIR is a domestic, international carrier connecting the African continent together.[17][18][19][20]

GAFO TELECOM is providing services throughout the telecom industry and owns shares in existing Comores Telecom.[21]

GAFO FOODS is specialized with franchising food chains and erection of new restaurant setup with wide catering experience.

GAFO BEITY is the food stuff imports and exports of the BEITY brand worldwide.[22]

GAFO PRO is specialized with supplying and manufacturing pharmaceuticals and medical equipements.[23]

SPRINGY WATER is specialized in manufacturing bottled water.[24][25]

GAFO ENERGY was found to erect different types of energy projects such that geothermal energy plants were erected and deep surveys made to make this entity one of the leaders in the energy sector in Africa.[26][27][28][29][30][31][32]
