Roberto Micheletti Bain (born August 13, 1948) is the self-proclaimed acting President of Honduras since June 28, 2009. He is in the Liberal Party of Honduras. He has proclaimed himself to be president during the ongoing coup d'état against president Manuel Zelaya concerning the Honduran constitutional referendum, 2009.[1] [2] In 2008 He sought his party's nomination to run for president in the November 2009 election, but was defeated by Vice President Elvin Ernesto Santos.

With the president absent, the Constitution mandates that the head of Congress, Roberto Micheletti, acts as provisional head of state.[3]

He has been the President (speaker) of the National Congress of Honduras since January 2006. Although in the same Liberal Party of Honduras as Zelaya there had been conflict between them before the coup against Zelaya.[4]
