Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society (RCCS) is an American based organization dedicated to funding insurance policies for cancer-stricken patients. Founded in Brooklyn, New York 1997 by businessman Rabbi Hershel Kohn with the purpose that all sick people receive the best care,[1] they exist through a network of fund-raising activities. RCCS has also fought bitter legal battles with insurance companies to ensure that all patients receive quality care.[2][3] Its motto is We Fund Miracles. RCCS also organizes an assembly where thousands of orthodox Jews gather to pray on behalf of the sick.[4]
Insurance premiums
The pilot program of RCCS, and it's foremost goal is to ensure that every cancer patient is covered by the absolute best medical coverage that money can buy. Battling cancer can sometimes cost a fortune and not always does an existing health-insurance policy do much to curb the costs to ensure optimal care. Often cancer patients that may have been paying their premiums their entire life, due to the financial difficulties brought on by the disease, may begin to fall behind in their payments causing a suspension of their policy. Others may have only had minimal coverage through government programs, that do not support many of the treatments and doctors needed to receive quality care. RCCS will arrange for these patients the necessary coverage to receive the help they need.
Health Insurance advocates
Insurance companies can often deny permission for critical procedures, state of the art treatments, second opinions, and expensive medications. Patients are at time unfairly dropped from their health plans, and then have to deal with outstanding charges that multiply rapidly. RCCS advocates for patients that are helpless against the insurance giants. Through their extensive expertise, they fight for each person’s rights, even winning serious cases where the companies had claimed a “maxing out” of lifetime benefits.
Medical Directory program
RCCS has a medical advisory board to assist patients in finding the most appropriate specialist, taking into consideration many factors such as insurance acceptance and convenience of location. Patients are often thrown into chaos when they hear the shocking diagnosis not knowing where to turn for help, RCCS will guide them to find the proper care so that necessary procedures aren't delayed.
RCCS will stay in touch with the patient throughout their ordeal to ensure that the patient is receiving top quality care it all times.
Cancer research
Making decisions on an issue that is foreign to you isn't an easy task. People tend to have a desire to know more about a sickness, especially one of that is life-threatening. RCCS will do intensive research and will investigate treatment options and facilities on behalf of the patience. Professionals will then guide you throughout the entire process until a decision is made.
Hospital liaisons
RCCS has devoted liaisons in many hospitals to make the hospital stay more comfortable. Feeble patients are unable to deal with difficult nurses, harried doctors with abrupt bedside manners, and language communication difficulties. Trained individuals that have established a cordial rapport with doctors and staff, enable them to have confidence in unfamiliar surroundings.
Cancer prevention seminars
Preventive action is often the cure for these diseases. RCCS has implemented Cancer Prevention Seminars in many communities. filled halls and maximum attendance at these events make the public aware of many preventive tests that should be taken. RCCS relies on both heavy advertising and word of mouth to guarantee maximum attendance at these events. Top specialists are brought from top hospitals to lecture communities for symptoms to look out for and measures to take timely.
