Brian Nguyen is a Vietnamese professional wrestling referee and former professional wrestler.[2][3] Better known as Ryan Tran, he is currently signed with WWE, beginning his career as a referee in 2010 in FCW, the developmental territory for WWE talent and upcoming stars. In February 2012, he began appearing in the WWE flagship show, Raw.[3] He's currently on SmackDown Live.

Biography[edit]

Nguyen was born in Malaysia, and spent his childhood years in Hayward, California, idolizing Ricky Steamboat.[3] Tran initially trained under Harley Race with the goals of becoming a superstar himself.[3] He once appeared as Bao Nguyen on ECW against Tyson Kidd for his debut on WWE and lost the match.[4][5][6] Nguyen says that his favorite call were the Triple Threat tag team match between Cody Rhodes and Goldust, The Shield’s Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins and The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Hell in a Cell 2013.[3]

Nguyen now resides in Oakland, California, and is an avid sports fan and enjoys professional American football and baseball, particularly the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco Giants.[3] He also enjoys collecting McFarlane Sports Figures.[3]
