Star Sports 2 is the 6th Sports channel launched by STAR INDIA in India after STAR Sports, STAR Cricket, STAR Cricket HD, ESPN & ESPN HD. The channel has been launched especially for the Indian sub-continent keeping in mind the increasing demand for multi sport programmes. STAR Sports 2 was the only channel whose name was not changed post rebranding. [1][2] [3]

The channel was initially available on digital cable networks and DTH was subsequently rolled out on analog cable networks across the country.[4] For the launch of the channel, Star is running a campaign across the Star India network.[5] It is currently available on Dish TV, Sun Direct, Airtel Digital TV, Reliance Digital TV, Videocon D2H and Tata Sky. As well as multiple cable operators across India.
